The Philips NMS 801 is a MSX1 computer, bundled with a joystick, a data recorder and six tapes with 50 games, aimed at the Italian market. Somone says that it was built to celebrate Philips' anniversary in Italy. It has the text "MSX Compatible" instead of the MSX logo because the system is not fully MSX compliant due to missing features, such as no cartridge slot or printer connector.
This machine is very similar to the Philips Telematico NMS 3000 and 4000, which were Italian Videotel machines. It is a slightly improved version of the NMS 800 computer, as a RF output has been added at the back.
In this bundle the following items are included:
- 1 x Philips NMS 800 MSX1 computer.
- 1 x original power supply.
- 1 x original manual.
- 1 x original tape redorder.
- 1 x NMS 850 Joystick.
- 6 x orignal tapes with 50 games.
- All original cables
- Box and all original plastics, internal cardboards and sleeves
Curiosity
As with the NMS 800, the box and computer did not have any label attached with any type indication, instead stickers were supplied with the machine that the user was meant to stick on it. Only the manual has NMS 801 on it, but it was actually a sticker stuck over the NMS 800 text (which may fall off over time).
The box indicates 'Compatible MSX-DOS', but it's just a lie, as it is impossible to add a disk drive to this computer. Another lie is displayed on the MSX-BASIC screen, announcing 'MSX BASIC version 3.0', while this machine is not a MSX2+.
Note: the box has a dent on one edge (see pictures 3 and 5 of the gallery).
This unit has never been used. Thus, it is untested. Please understand that we cannot take any warranty or responsibility. Return or replacement is not acceptable. Please look at pics for details of the item.
